Kennametal's KAF82 breakthrough lifts profits but cash flow and tungsten risk cloud outlook
Kennametal introduced KAF82, a commercially scaled additive-manufactured tungsten carbide grade with two automotive OEM production wins and proprietary powder control, supporting strong adoption potential. The company posted record adjusted EPS for fiscal 2026 but swung to negative operating and free cash flow after inventory buildup and advance payments to secure tungsten supply. Management flagged lower near-term EPS guidance and margins benefitted partly from favorable raw-material timing, creating uncertainty about sustainability. Investor positioning is mixed—hedge funds increased stakes while short interest remains elevated—leaving the outlook dependent on whether KAF82 can scale broadly and offset volatile tungsten dynamics. » More on finance.yahoo.com
Kennametal introduces KAF82 tungsten‑carbide powder for additive manufacturing of customer‑specific bore tools
Kennametal has unveiled the tungsten‑carbide powder KAF82, enabling the additive production of specialized cutting tools for hole finishing. The material allows complex geometries and optimized cooling channels, shortens development times from months to weeks and reduces tungsten consumption compared with conventional processes. KAF82 will be supplied exclusively to Kennametal customers, is intended for use in aerospace, defense, energy, industrial machinery and transportation, and will be showcased at IMTS 2026 in Chicago. » More on de.investing.com
