The refreshed 2026 Polestar 3 Performance upgrades to an 800V electrical architecture, boosting power to 680hp, cutting 0-60mph to 3.8s and enabling up to 350kW charging (10–80% in ~22 minutes). A slightly smaller battery and weight reduction improve efficiency, yielding a WLTP range of 373 miles while real-world testing showed about 275 miles under mixed driving. The US Department of Commerce imposed a sales ban on future Polestar models over national security concerns related to Chinese software in internet-connected vehicles. Polestar, controlled by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, will not appeal the decision and plans to focus investments on markets such as Europe instead. Projects with the 32 US dealers are being halted; state-level rules could give rise to claims for compensation.
