Two men charged over Safe Hands collapse that left 46,000 out of pocket
The Serious Fraud Office has charged Richard Wells and Neil Debenham with conspiracy to defraud over the collapse of pre-paid funeral firm Safe Hands, which left about 46,000 customers without funds in 2022. The SFO says the business failed after it did not secure required regulatory approval for the ongoing sale of its plans; Wells was a former director of the parent SHP Capital and Debenham a senior executive. The defendants are due to appear at Westminster magistrates court on 5 February. » More on theguardian.com
