Tivic Health acquires Scorpius facilities and founds CDMO subsidiary Velocity Bioworks
Tivic Health Systems has acquired production and development facilities from Scorpius and established the subsidiary Velocity Bioworks, which will operate as a CDMO from San Antonio offering contract development and manufacturing services. The acquisition is supported by financing led by 3i, LP: $16 million in debt and up to $75 million in convertible preferred shares for commercialization and growth; an additional potential equity credit line of $50 million is planned. The transaction secures U.S. manufacturing of the drug candidate entolimod and is intended to reduce development and outsourcing costs. Investors reacted positively, with the stock up 16.67% for the week despite a year-to-date decline of 59.56%; at the same time the company reported substantial losses and a strategic shift in focus toward biopharmaceuticals. » More on de.investing.com
