SSE starts share buyback after strong demand for scrip dividend
SSE announces a buyback programme after the take-up rate of the scrip dividend for the financial year, at 37.18%, exceeded the internal cap of 25%. The company issued 8,452,267 new ordinary shares on 17 September, increasing share capital by 0.70% and reducing the cash outflow by £201,441,640. To offset dilution, SSE intends to buy back up to 4,246,975 of its own ordinary shares for a maximum of £105,000,000; the buyback is to be completed by 31 March 2027 and will be carried out in accordance with the UK Listing Rules. » More on de.investing.com
SSE appoints John Pettigrew as independent director to the board
SSE appoints John Pettigrew, effective 1 December 2026, as an independent non-executive director and assigns him to the nomination committee, the advisory committee for safety, sustainability, health and environment, and the Energy Markets Risk Committee. Pettigrew worked at National Grid for more than 30 years and was CEO until November 2025; he brings experience in power networks, policy and regulation and is currently a non-executive director at BAE Systems and senior independent director at Rentokil Initial. The appointment must be confirmed at the 2027 annual general meeting. SSE places two perpetual bonds worth €1.3bn on the London Stock Exchange
SSE has admitted two series of perpetual bonds totaling €1.3bn to trading on the main market of the London Stock Exchange. Each €650m was issued with coupons of 4.375% (NC5.25) and 4.750% (NC8) under the €20bn EMTN programme and began trading today. The base prospectus is dated 1 June 2026. » More on de.investing.com
