Air Lease: Fitch cuts outlook to negative after announced takeover

Fitch affirms Air Lease’s long-term rating at 'BBB' but lowers the outlook to negative following the announced USD 7.4 billion takeover by a consortium led by Sumitomo Corporation. SMBC Aviation Capital will take over the existing orderbook and become the primary servicer for large parts of the portfolio; Fitch says this creates uncertainty around the company’s future business profile and warns of a possible downgrade within 18–24 months.
