PayPay to acquire 70.2% stake in T&D Financial Life Insurance

PayPay Corp. approved the purchase of a 70.2% stake in T&D Financial Life Insurance from T&D Holdings, using its cash reserves to finance the deal and making T&D Financial Life a PayPay subsidiary upon completion. The transaction will also lead to T&D Financial Life being recognized as a designated SoftBank Group subsidiary due to its capital size. T&D Holdings misses profit target despite revenue growth

T&D Holdings reported Q4 2026 earnings per share of ¥32.69, well below the forecast of ¥91.36, while revenue of ¥874.34 billion topped expectations by 7.64%. The stock fell 1.32% to ¥3,949. Adjusted group profits and the economic solvency ratio of 222% remain robust, but higher costs and increased lapse rates are weighing on profitability.
