Copper to pilot $32m induction-stove program to replace gas in NYC public housing

Copper supplied induction stoves to 15 co-op apartments in Washington Heights and is leading a $32m pilot to replace gas stoves in 10,000 NYCHA units, with an initial 100-apartment trial planned early next year. Advocates and officials cite lower indoor air pollution, climate benefits and lower upfront costs than repairing aging gas pipes; the Washington Heights project cost about $90,000 versus an estimated $200,000 for pipe fixes.
