Yamaha aims for 10 billion yen in revenue by 2028 with new business division
Yamahaâs newly created business development division, reporting directly to the president, aims to generate about 10 billion yen in revenue by fiscal 2028 across Music Connect, Creators and Virtual Entertainment. Music Connect will launch with online lessons and plans services based on 8 million user IDs. The Creators platform is intended to produce subscription revenue for content creators. Yamaha reports 49% sharp profit decline in first quarter 2026 due to tariffs and strong yen
Yamaha reported Q1 2026 revenue of „103.9 billion (-7.4%) and a core operating profit of „4.7 billion (-49.2%); net profit fell to „2.4 billion (-74.7%). Weighing on results were the yenâs appreciation, additional U.S. tariffs (negative impact of „1.8 billion) and an unfavorable sales and production mix (â„2.7 billion). Both musical instruments and audio equipment posted declining sales and saw their profit contributions halved, while the Other segment grew only slightly.
