  • Volvo cuts 2,500 jobs after loss-making third quarter

Volvo has announced a new cost-saving program and plans to cut around 2,500 jobs worldwide to reduce annual expenses by about 5 billion SEK (450 million euros). The third quarter of 2026 produced a deep red result: deliveries fell by 11%, revenue dropped by almost a quarter to 66.9 billion SEK, and there was an operating loss of 5.6 billion SEK. China in particular saw revenues nearly halve, and the US also performed weakly; around 2,000 jobs are to be cut in Sweden alone. In April 2025, 3,000 job cuts had already been announced, the share price has fallen sharply this year, and the company remains under pressure. » More on n-tv.de

  • Volvo to offer hands-free point-to-point driving using Nvidia technology by 2030

Volvo will deploy Nvidia’s Hyperion platform and Alpamayo software to power a Level 2++ hands-free, point-to-point driving system capable of handling urban scenarios such as traffic lights, stop signs and unprotected left turns. The system, which initially won’t include lidar, will use additional sensors, Volvo’s advanced driver-understanding and connected safety data, and is planned to roll out across the model range before the end of the decade. The move expands Volvo’s partnership with Nvidia as the automaker seeks to replace earlier stalled autonomous efforts and develop ongoing software-based services. » More on theverge.com
