Kodiak AI is partnering with AMD and equipping its seventh-generation autonomous trucks with AMD EPYC CPUs to aggregate LiDAR, camera and radar sensor data and support the Kodiak Driver for route planning and localization. The company says it is the first to deploy EPYC processors in a hardware platform for driverless trucks, highlighting the new CPUs’ higher clock rates and energy efficiency. Kodiak AI is conducting a pilot to test its autonomous driving technology for timber transport for West Fraser in Alberta. Tests at the Transportation Research Center and demonstrations for traffic authorities showed maneuvers in construction zones, overtaking, evasive reactions and responses to pedestrian crossings.
