Relief for TUI: travel security fund halves fees to 0.25 percent
The German Reisesicherungsfonds will reduce charges for package holidays from 0.5 to 0.25 percent from 1 November, significantly easing the burden on tour operators such as TUI. The measure is expected to save the industry around €70 million annually and cut required security deposits by about €560 million. Tui reports shorter-term bookings and shifts in destinations due to Iran war
The travel group Tui says the Iran war has led to shorter-term summer bookings and a shift in demand toward Spain and Greece; about half of potential summer holidaymakers have not yet booked. Tui confirms the profit forecast lowered in April and continues to target adjusted operating profit of €1.1–1.4 billion for 2025/26. In the first half, revenue was €8.56 billion and the seasonally typical adjusted operating loss narrowed to about €116 million. The war and Hurricane Melissa hit results by roughly €40 million and €5 million respectively; a total of 12.8 million guests travelled with Tui. » More on stern.de
