  • Volvo Car reports 5.5% decline in global deliveries

Volvo Car recorded a 5.5% decline in deliveries to 178,980 vehicles in the three-month period ending in May, down from 189,440 a year earlier. The company attributes the drop to mounting challenges across several regions, notably intense competition and a difficult environment in China. Early signs of recovery appear in the US, but consumer sentiment remains weak and demand for battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles is subdued. Electric cars and plug-in hybrids accounted for 48% of deliveries (BEV 23%, PHEV 25%); deliveries of pure electric vehicles rose for the eighth consecutive month, driven by the EX30, EX40 and strong pre-orders for the new EX60. » More on de.investing.com

  • Volvo Cars struggles with weak demand and another profit decline

Volvo Cars reported a 12% drop in revenue to 72.6 billion SEK (6.7 billion EUR) in the first quarter and an 11% decline in retail sales to about 153,300 vehicles. EBIT fell 17% to 1.6 billion SEK with a margin of 2.2%, and net profit fell from 1 billion to 0.7 billion SEK. CEO Hakan Samuelsson cited weaker sales and prices, US import tariffs and write-downs as reasons; at the same time, sales of fully electric models rose 12% and their share reached nearly a quarter. Cash used in operations and investing totalled 10 billion SEK in the quarter, mainly due to seasonal factors and inventory buildup for production of the new electric SUV EX60. » More on finanzen.net

Deliveries fell 7% to 710,000 vehicles, fourth-quarter revenue dropped 16% to 94.4 billion SEK, and EBIT halved to 1.9 billion SEK. The company cut 3,000 jobs, plans additional savings of at least 5 billion SEK and aims to improve sales and free cash flow in 2026. » More on de.investing.com
