S&P cuts outlook for Emergent BioSolutions to negative over rising naloxone competition

S&P Global Ratings has moved its outlook for Emergent BioSolutions from stable to negative and affirmed the issuer rating at B- after the company cut its 2026 revenue and adjusted-EBITDA forecasts due to increasing competition in the naloxone market. Emergent expects lower NARCAN sales; S&P projects roughly a 25% revenue drop in the commercial segment and warns of increased refinancing risk for unsecured bonds maturing in August 2028. Emergent BioSolutions reports stronger 2025 results and wins shareholder approval for proposals

Emergent BioSolutions said it made significant progress in its multi-year turnaround in 2025, delivering $205 million adjusted EBITDA, $100 million higher cash balance, $110 million of debt reduction, improved margins and stronger cash flow. At its 2026 annual meeting shareholders elected Class II directors, ratified Ernst & Young as auditor, approved 2025 executive compensation and authorized an increase in shares under the stock incentive plan. Emergent BioSolutions reports Q1 revenue beat and raises EBITDA guidance

Emergent BioSolutions reported first-quarter revenue of $156 million, topping the high end of guidance, with adjusted EBITDA of $36 million (margin 23%). The company strengthened its balance sheet with $160 million cash on hand, total liquidity of $260 million, and reduced gross debt by $110 million; it also closed a new $150 million first‑lien term loan. Emergent reported growth in international MCM orders, FDA approvals and partnerships to boost naloxone sales, as well as several government contracts.
