Linde slides after results as homecare margin headwinds offset electronics momentum
Linde reported Q2 revenue of $9.29 billion and adjusted EPS of $4.50, both beating expectations, but shares fell after management flagged margin pressure in its Lincare home health business and gave cautious near-term guidance. Electronics demand from semiconductor customers and a rising gas supply backlog ($8.1bn gas, $3bn engineering) drove volume and backlog growth, prompting $1.8bn of planned investments tied to chip fabs. Management is taking actions to fix Lincare and is evaluating its strategic fit while raising capex guidance to $5.5–6.0bn; the outlet reiterates a buy-equivalent stance with a $550 price target. » More on cnbc.com
Linde invests $1 billion to expand semiconductor gas supply in Arizona
Linde has signed a long-term supply contract with one of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers and is investing about $1 billion in Arizona. The company will build, own and operate two air separation plants and the associated infrastructure to deliver high-purity nitrogen, oxygen and argon for two new fabs. A Linde joint venture in Taiwan plans an additional roughly $800 million to supply other facilities of the same customer. The move responds to semiconductor industry capacity expansions to meet demand for AI and high-performance computing chips. » More on de.investing.com
