Sumitomo Chemical falls after Gotham short-seller report and weak market
Sumitomo Chemicalâs stock fell 3.6% to 494.1 yen, weighed down by a Gotham City Research report accusing subsidiary Sumitomo Pharma of misreporting the fiscal 2025 accounts by up to 165 billion yen. The short-seller alleges manipulated receivables and singles out a 48 billion yen dividend announced shortly before year-end by a Swiss unit. Sumitomo Chemical creates joint venture with Samsung for glass-core substrates
Sumitomo Chemicalâs stock rose 7.1% to „558.8 after Dongwoo Fine Chem signed a binding agreement with Samsung Electro-Mechanics. The joint venture (provisionally named âGlaSSEMâ) will produce glass-core substrates for advanced packaging of AI chips, involves about 480 billion won in investment and foresees a 66%/34% ownership split in favor of Samsung.
